Introduction

This Project Management Seminar is a one-day hands-on workshop where participants are led through the basic concepts of Project Management. It is aimed at those people who are involved in projects after the initial strategy for the project has been decided.

No computer skills are required. However the processes are very much aimed at giving participants an insight into what Project Management computer software does and in particular MS Project. The main focus is on the importance of creating a logical sequence of activities. The logical sequence ( a PERT Chart or Network Diagram) and the estimated durations are then used to calculate the start and finish dates for activities. The corollary to this is that project coordinators using scheduling software do not want dates for the activities as the software is intended to calculate these for you. This is a quantum leap for many people.

With regard to MS Project if you are typing dates into the start and finish columns to create your Gantt Chart then you and your whole team desperately need to do this seminar!

If time permits MS Project will be briefly demonstrated towards the end of the seminar
